Taking It To The Bank
This Friday I’m taking the day off in order to speak with a loan officer at my bank. I’m going in to get a pre-approval for a mortgage. I will begin looking at houses on Saturday morning. This will officially start my search for a home. At this point, I’m both excited and nervous. This will be the first time I have been truly been in debt. That makes me nervous. On the other hand, I will be buying a house of my very own. That makes me excited. It will be interesting to see how the whole process plays out.

Best of luck on the loan. I just went through that process and it was not as hard as I thought. I hope your writing hand is in shape because you will have to spend about 30 mins signing when everything is all set and you are getting the keys.
I actually messed with lendingtree.com and thought it was good, but I ended up going with a mortgage company that works with my lender on a regular basis.
Don’t take this as fact, but I have heard that applications for credit that happen within a month of each other don’t hurt your score. They consider that shopping around, so I would suggest verifying that and hitting up a lot of mortgage companies and banks.
Good luck!
