Apple Shafts iPhone Developer
This is why I do not own any Apple gear. Without warning Apple has pulled their VoiceCentral iPhone application from the application store. This after it has been on sale for four months without any apparent issues. Read the whole story on their blog. I realize that Apple has every right to control what is or is not available on the iPhone, but they really should treat their third-party developers better. At the very least they need to provide a proper explanation as to why VoiceCentral was pulled and if there is any chance of it being reinstated.
This is just another reminder as to why closed, proprietary systems are bad. I plan on getting a new smartphone sometime this fall and I can assure you it will not be an iPhone after this incident. I am not interested in investing in a platform where my favorite applications and features can be pulled at the drop of a hat. Looks like I will be looking at either a BlackBerry or (hopefully) an Android phone later this year.
