XPath Project on Hold

I am going to have to place my personal XPath editor for KDE project on hold temporarily. Right now I am trying to juggle too many balls and this one happens to be the least important at the moment. Between work and the imminent arrival of my first child, I have plenty to keep me busy. I just do not have the time necessary right now to become fluent in KDE development. So for now I am going to moth-ball this project with the hope of getting back into it early next year.

I am also looking into changing the scope of the project from a stand-alone application into a KDevelop plugin. I am hoping that building a plugin will require substantially less time and effort to complete, while serving as an introduction to KDE application development.

New Series on Enterprise Service Buses

Sam Gentile has started a new series on his blog exploring how an ESB drives SOA adoption. The first part is titled “Introduction to ESBs: What are ESBs and Why Would You Need One?” and serves as a good introduction to what an ESB is and how it fits into SOA. From the introduction, it looks like he will using Neuron ESB as the platform of choice. I am hoping he will also spend some time comparing Neuron ESB to other products on the market like BizTalk Server. I am really looking forward to reading more articles in this series.
