This one is for all of my fans. (Both of them) If for some reason you want to see what websites I have been visiting lately, click the Del.icio.us link over on the right. There you will find a list of sites I’ve been to recently that I have found interesting.
Update: I should have been a little more clear. The link to my Del.icio.us list is in the sidebar on the right, just above the Map Point image. Not the link under the Previous Posts section. Sorry about that.

My adventure in home buying is finally coming to an end. At this point all that it left is for the seller to sign and return the addendum to our contract, and for me complete the closing paperwork. My closing date is tentatively set for March 8th.

Trying to balance work, life, wedding planning, and buying a house is very stressful.
That is all.

Mike Roberts over at ThoughtWorks has a fascinating series of posts on setting up a proper .NET development environment. So far, he has covered installing and configuring source control, and using NAnt for automated builds. You can check out the Introduction, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 and Part 5.

Our Bible study group is currently working through the book Every Man’s Battle by Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker. This book discusses the near-constant sexual bombardment men undergo in our society, and practical ways for men to fight the battle for sexual integrity. Even if you are not a Christian, there is a lot of good advice on how you can be a man of integrity in our sexually-charged society. If you are interested in being faithful to your wife/girlfriend/fiancée, I highly recommend it.
You can find the book at Christianbook.com, Amazon.com, or your local Christian book store.

The Microsoft Patterns and Practices team has started a new wiki. It looks like it might become an excellent source for sharing and discussing software design patterns. At the moment, most of the wiki pages are locked, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a wiki, and they seem to be using an ancient version of FlexWiki that doesn’t render correctly in Firefox.
You can check it out at PatternShare.

I haven’t had much time to blog lately. These last couple weeks have been extremely busy. This post will be a recap of all the things I’ve been doing.
I am engaged to be married as of January 21, 2005. This past week has been a flurry of activity trying to get reservations for church, my fiancée’s pastor, and a reception hall. By the grace of God, we managed to get everything coordinated for October 1, 2005. With the major items out of the way, I can relax and breathe for a moment before diving back in to start handling the rest of the details.
I’m still looking for a house. So far I haven’t been able to find something that I really like. The housing market should start heating up again pretty soon, and I’m confident that I will be able to find something within the next month or so.
I’ve also been busy with activities at my church. Once again I am co-leading a bible study on Sunday nights with a friend of mine. (I’ll be devoting a separate post to this) I’m also helping to create a new website for our ministry. On top of that, I’ve been suckered into playing in the church volleyball league again.
In my spare time, I’ve been trying to teach myself a little bit about KDE development. Progress has been slow, but I think I’m getting the hang of it. Unfortunately, it’s been so long since I have done any serious C++ work, my skills with the language have grown rusty. I’ve also been kicking the tires with Ruby on Rails. This past weekend I finally managed to get Rails installed on my laptop. Now I need to find some time to try it out.
As you can see, I’ve been keeping myself busy these past couple weeks. Until we finalize all our wedding plans, I don’t think things will be slowing down anytime soon. At the end of the day, I think it will all be worth it.
